Soap Shaming

what-ifSoap shaming. Have you been a victim? Are you guilty? Soap shaming is the practice of berating other soapmakers regarding their practice or ingredients of choice. Of course, this practice involves several hot topics (and other products), as well. They include, but are not limited to:
  • Melt & pour
  • Palm oil
  • Animal products
  • Fragrance oils
  • Synthetic ingredients

Granted, many of us have made decisions about our products according to beliefs we hold near and dear and are very passionate about these lifestyles and choices. A few are vocal. Very vocal. They are in fact, vocal to the point of obnoxious.

Indeed, man is blessed with the skill to think and reason and to make decisions based on the results of all that thinking and reasoning. It is hard to reconcile our own beliefs with the idea that others have also put thought and reasoning into theirs, yet have not come to the same conclusion.

Some never come to grips with the idea that we are each allowed our opinions and practices, which unfortunately, leads to a great deal of rancor.

What if, however, we could respect each other for our mental capacity to research and come to a position? What if we could respect our differences?

I think we can do it. It takes restraint and deep breaths, but I know we have it within us to allow others their opinions and beliefs.

What do you think?

Until next time, may your days be filled with bubbles and wax.
